Public Casting Call

Podcast 17 is running out of resources, no it’s not gold, no it’s not vespene gas, no it’s not blood … well actually… it’s sort of blood. We need people; more specifically, voices!

As most listeners have probably noticed we have been lacking in the official co-host roster as of late. This is due to a multitude of reasons, but primarily because people just get busy!

Because of this drop in participation we are putting out a public casting call for more official co-hosts. This means anyone can get a chance join the Podcast 17 team. We don’t do this often so now is a great time to get involved. We are looking for dedicated Half-Life and Valve fans who can spend ~6 hours of the week preparing for and being on the show. Preparation includes playing mods, video games, and reading media posts; which most of you already do!

Try-outs are tiered:

  • Tier 1: Pseudo-resume. This is the first step – we aren’t asking for a professional resume, just tell us who you are, why you love Half-Life, what projects you’ve been involved in and at least one thing you would change about Podcast 17. Email your pseudo-resumes to
  • Tier 2: Private audio interview. Once we accept your pseudo-resume William will organize an appropriate time to speak with you over Skype. An official co-host might also be present. In this stage we just want to get to know your personality… maybe play some video games with you… maybe talk about the weather… who knows!
  • Tier 3: Live Show. Once we are comfortable with your personality we will bring you on a live show and see how you handle yourself. However, we will not keep you for an interview if there is one during your live show try-out.
  • Tier 4: Success! You have been accepted as an official co-host and are now part of the Podcast 17 team!

A great way to speed up this process is to hang out in our mumble voice server. This is a good way for us to get to know you and perhaps expedite the tiered process.

Don’t worry about not being able to make the current show time, as we gain new hosts availability will change and the show time may change to match that. Even if you have no time, but are still interested, still apply. We have no rules on how many episodes you need to attend, you could attend one a year for all we care (e.g. Thomas).

So in conclusion, send your pseudo-resumes to to get started. We look forward to hearing from you!
